(Not my pic but same machine)

I recently inherited some fun stuff. Tool Boxes, a .50cal Black Powder rifle, a few Car parts and some Power Tools.

Kinja'd!!!

Well, I’m storing some of this stuff in my Dad’s garage until I can (finally? please?) move in to my own garage.

Dad (retired) decided to refurb this thing. It’s a Skil Worm Drive from the 1970s. After replacing the brushes, a new cord and an erl change he says it’s as good as new.

Kinja'd!!!

Here it hangs. Waiting for paint to dry.

We’ll see what happens tomorrow when it’s fully assembled.

Thanks Dad!

(Now if I could just find an MGB GT I can “store” at his house..)

A worm drive saw will definitely get the job done. Congrats on the haul!

That is awesome. A Meg 77 , right? My dad builds houses and I grew up with those things. I worked summers for him for many years while in school. Those are the best saws around. Period. I’ve got one in my garage that I whip out for projects. It just feels right. Torquey too!

I just found this on the web. The design is 75 years old!

Oddly It’ll be my first “real” saw. I just used to go to Menards and snag a new Circular Saw on the way out.

Burn it up?

Go to Menards and get a new Saw, a frozen pizza and maybe a new hoodie.

I’m a bit more emotional about my Body and Paint tools.

My father has one of those wormdrive Skils from the early 80’s. Built our house with it, (after burning up a cheap Craftsman.) That thing would cut through anything, (and you end up with huge forearms because the thing weighs a ton.)

Those things are seriously heavy duty. They are also seriously just plain heavy, they’re a real workout to use. Awesome tool!

Like anything, once you use a quality tool it is hard to go back. I started out with those and anytime I use a cheapy saw I get pissed.

My dad has one that I used to demo a floor in their camp. It has so much torque that it will cut plywood as fast as you can walk, nails and all. The blade was trashed by the end of cutting out the floor, but the saw made quick work of it.

There’s only one tool that can piss me off. Cheap Channellocks. If you’re going to buy “groove joint pliers” don’t buy cheapies.

I have the good ones and still pinch myself every time I use them.

They do tend to bite on occasion. The worst are the “baby” Channellocks. A little too mich pressure and *snap* they break in the groove and crush one of my fingers.
